However, tornados do sometimes show up in less likely areas, and you need to know what to do.

What Are Tornados?

Tornados are funnels from the ground to the clouds created by extremely high speed spinning air. When they touch down to the ground, they destroy pretty much every thing they touch … timber, bushes, homes, cars, animals … everything. And sadly, they tend to form rapidly with little warning.

Before A Twister

If you stay in an area prone to tornados, you should keep an eye on the weather channel on TV or the Internet or listen for the weather on the radio. However, it helps if you know what type of weather situations are likely to accompany tornados as well. So, if you see these conditions, be especially vigilant and follow the weather information more closely.

How To Know A Twister Is Coming

Tornados are nearly always preceded by a cold front moving into the area where there's already a warm front with moist air and heavy winds. This added to massive, dark, low couds … or a wall of enormous, ominous-looking clouds … are perfect conditions for tornados. Also, when a twister is imminent, there is normally rain, hail, and excessive winds. These situations don't guarantee a twister, however tornados are often preceded by such conditions. If you see debris blowing in the winds, that's a bad sign.

Tornados are usually very loud (many people describe it as sounding like a freight train), so you will likely hear a tornado coming before you see it. The sky will typically turn greenish or greenish-black.

Getting ready For A Tornado

To be prepared for a tornado, you should keep a kit in your house including a portable communications radio (e.g., FRS or GPRS), a cellular phone with charged batteries, a flashlight (LED type is preferred), and a whistle, horn, or air horn. It's additionally useful to include protective clothing, food, water, batteries, and a portable radio to hear the news reports.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7733626799347263704.post-78700720746986902812014-07-21T15:15:00.001-07:002014-07-21T15:15:32.793-07:00Realm of the Mad God – The Exclusive Game

He is a type 1 diabetic, she a type 2. She has had both knees replaced
but has problems with her feet and can only walk short distances. She's
also recovering from a damaged rotater cuff, has "spurs on her spine"
and degenerative arthritis.

It was quickly apparent she would be running the show and it would all
be health related. At 4:30 p.m. we were informed we would eat at 5:00
p.m., and it would need to be either American or Italian food. Yes
maaam we said, and hit the door to make it happen.

Apparently there are a number of glucose checks and injections to be
done for him every day. Trust me, she will keep us informed.

It's 52 degrees this morning and raining but we're headed for the coast
anyway. She told us she cannot walk on the beach but just wants to say
she's seen the Pacific Ocean. Rodger is a good son, he's driving us and
will take us to some nice look out stations where they can make
pictures, although it may not be picture taking weather at the coast,
we'll see.

Tomorrow we will do the rose gardens, rain or shine. I have news for
her, there's a lot of walking to be done there. I'll let her decide how
much she's up to.

She's decided against purchasing the manzanita bush, but may order one
once she's back at home, too much trouble to get one here.

He is the same, she is not. She's my age but much older. I don't know
what happened. She was always more vibrant and outgoing than me, always
laughing and game for anything. Somewhere along the way she let
herself get old. They live in a rural area thirty miles from the
nearest town. He uses a computer, she doesn't know how to turn one on.
He's still vibrant, in tune with the world, and active. She is old.

She's not interested in doing anything more than the coast and rose
gardens. I sense she's going to want to spend a lot of time at the
hotel where she can lay on the bed. Too bad we can't take him and do
some interesting things but I doubt he will leave her.

I have faith the sun is going to come out and be a nice day. More later.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7733626799347263704.post-43102781091156429722014-06-27T09:04:00.001-07:002014-06-27T09:04:47.918-07:00The Cherry TreeA few days ago I posted this picture of the raccoons in Son's cherry tree.
I was so ignorant then of how to blog or find writing jobs that, in hindsight, I lost out on a lot of stuff I could have been doing like growing a brand and building up personal sites as well as adding to my portfolio. I wouldn't call it wasted time, though, as most of those precious days that are now gone were spent learning what I know today. I'm still no "guru" but I know enough now to launch new blogs and sites with moderate success. Also, like they say, "hindsight is 20/20"-so I'm not crying over it, either.
Patience is the Key to Blogging and Developing Your BrandWhen people first start out blogging they'll probably read "patience" about once a day, maybe more; the key to any successful blog (amongst other things, and we could go all day on that subject) is PATIENCE.
I see so many people start a new blog and throw tons of advertising on it when they may only have 2 to 5 pieces of content. Also, in many cases, those single digit pieces of content aren't really well thought out or aimed at the audience of the blog. Heck, there is no audience yet. Then bloggers get discouraged. They wonder why they're not making money with their blogs. Maybe they give up. Maybe they do something stupid like buying traffic and ad clicks. Either way, they eventually stop blogging all together.
Three Reasons Why a Patient Blogger Turns into a Successful Blogger1. The building and adding of content on a consistent basis is necessary to get traffic and dedicated readers. Without a lot of content, you'll never rank in search engines for main keywords or long-tail keywords. The better the content the better your chances of getting good traffic. Write content consistently or outsource to a blog writing service that can show passion in prose.
2. Domain age is HUGE! The older the domain, the more weight it holds with search engines-especially Google. The older a domain is, the more it has been worked, and over time contributes to two main elements. First, it shows the search engines that it isn't a spam sight and it has someone "behind the curtain" that truly cares about the blog and working it. Second, the longer the blog is around the more and more back links will come out on the other end as people start noticing and linking, tweeting, sharing and coming back for more of your content. That's a huge plus in rankings and traffic.
3. Bloggers who stick around for the long run are the ones who are treating their blog as a business. Some businesses take years to actually start turning a profit. Until that happens it takes hard work and living off of any scraps left over. A blog is no different and bloggers should not look at blogging as anything but a small, online business. People who blog don't just write. They promote. They study the field and niche. They market. They network.
That's not the "end all, be all" of successful blogging but I think that it's more than half the battle. People like to succeed naturally. The truly determined try anything they can to get their ideas to become successful, while "hobbyists" are more likely to give up and move onto something else. Which one are you?

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
